Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Crete
Produced by the Kritsa Agricultural Olive Oil Cooperative, founded in 1927, Kritsa Extra Virgin Olive Oil represents generations of Cretan olive-growing tradition combined with modern production expertise.
Made exclusively from the renowned Koroneiki olive variety, it consistently achieves an exceptionally low acidity below 0.3% and has received numerous distinctions at international olive oil competitions. Its quality and strong connection to its place of origin are officially recognised through its Protected Geographical Indication – PGI KRITSA status.
The Cooperative brings together approximately 1,350 local olive growers, producing around 450 tonnes of olive oil annually. Their olive groves extend from the Gulf of Mirabello to an altitude of 375 metres, benefiting from Crete’s abundant sunshine, warm, dry climate and ideal conditions for olive cultivation.
Immediately after harvesting, the olives are processed at the Cooperative’s modern olive mill, while the oil is carefully stored in stainless-steel tanks under nitrogen to preserve its freshness, quality and organoleptic characteristics.
Naturally rich in polyphenols, qualifying Kritsa olive oils can also carry the authorised European health claim concerning the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress.
